The mission of Exceptional Children’s Educational Center (EC2) is to be the country’s pioneering educational system for early identification, intervention, and nurturing of exceptional and gifted children through diagnostic-based, interest-oriented, individualized adaptive curriculum aimed at each child’s holistic and concrete experiential learning development.

About our School
Since Jean-Marc-Gaspard Itard and Anne Sullivan Macy worked miracles with students like Helen Keller back in the 1800’s, special education has been part of the educational landscape. When SpEd became an integral part of the curriculum, many students with physical, cognitive, language, learning, sensory and/or emotional abilities different from the general population received the proper attention and care they need.
But for one reason or another, the focus of most Special Education efforts are more inclined towards those with learning disabilities and less on gifted kids. When a gifted kid has some form of learning disability, the intervention is focused more on the latter rather than the former.
Our Activities

We integrate in our courses music and music appreciation. Thursdays and Fridays are music days where we direct a child to choose an instrument they would like to learn and start their journey in developing their musical talents.
It is from this educational reality that EC2 was born. Our primary purpose is to provide a venue for assessment, intervention and education of gifted kids whether they have learning disabilities or not. We work hand-in-hand with their parents and expose them to methodologies and experiences that challenge them to think and therefore, enjoy the process of learning.
In the past 9 years, we have served 100-200 students aged 1 to 17 with varying educational and/or behavioural needs. So far, by the grace of God and the dedication of our parents, teachers and staff, we’ve had favorable results.
